Newark, CA · East Bay · Operator-owned fleet

Newark charter bus rental from the company that owns the bus.

Our Hayward yard is about 20 minutes up I-880 from NewPark Mall, which keeps the deadhead line on a Newark quote short. No marketplace, no subcontractor, no 20–40% broker margin between the price you see and the operator running the trip. The dispatcher who prices the run is the one who assigns the driver.

The runs our drivers already know

Distances are road miles from NewPark Mall at Cedar Boulevard. Times are typical off-peak, before the Dumbarton approach fills. Each row is a run we stage out of Newark regularly.

Why it matters who owns the bus

Direct operator vs. national booking marketplace

Most sites ranking for "charter bus Newark" do not own a single vehicle. They resell operators like us and add a margin. Here is what changes when you skip that layer.

What Newark charters typically cost

Minibus, 24–35 passengers$150–$175/hr

Motorcoach, 56 passengers$190–$245/hr

Driver included. Quoted per itinerary on top of the hourly rate because deadhead, tolls and return time change the total.

Recurring shuttle programContract rate

Daily fixed routes for Newark and Fremont-corridor employers. Monthly invoicing, PO-based billing and net terms.

Always included: driver, fuel, standard insurance, live tracking. Quoted separately: tolls, parking, driver overnight on multi-day trips, gratuity if you choose to add it.

Newark FAQ

Answers from the people who dispatch the buses

How much does a charter bus cost in Newark?

A half-day (5-hour) 24-35 passenger minibus in Newark typically runs $750–$875 including driver. A 56-passenger motorcoach is quoted per itinerary. Our Hayward yard is 20 minutes up I-880, so the deadhead portion of a Newark quote is one of the smaller ones we write.

Do you charge for the Dumbarton Bridge toll?

The westbound toll is real and it shows up as its own line on the invoice rather than being folded into the hourly rate. Eastbound is free, so a round trip to Menlo Park or Palo Alto carries one crossing charge, not two.

Which airports do you serve from Newark?

San Jose (SJC, about 15 road miles), Oakland (OAK, about 20 miles) and San Francisco (SFO, about 28 miles by way of the Dumbarton Bridge). We pick the routing based on your departure time, because before eight in the morning the bridge approach can make the longer I-880 run to OAK the faster one.

Are you a broker or the actual bus company?

We are the operator. Umbrella Global Bus owns nineteen vehicles, employs the drivers, and runs its own dispatch and shop out of South San Francisco and Hayward under CPUC TCP 0037963 and USDOT 3126263. Your trip is not handed off to another carrier.

Can you run a recurring employee shuttle out of Newark?

Yes, and the Dumbarton crossing is the route we run most. Fixed departures, the same drivers on the route each cycle, a contract rate rather than an hourly charter rate, and a live tracking link so the site coordinator can see where the vehicle is without calling anyone.

Can you provide a certificate of insurance for a Newark venue or school district?

Yes. The vehicles are ours, so we issue the COI directly, usually the same business day, naming Newark Unified, the city or your employer as certificate holder with the wording their office requires.
